Mechanical dirt filters can be divided into several categories:
- first of all according to water flow and connection size,
- further according to construction into standard two-piece filters (the filter bowl is screwed directly into the filter head),
three-piece filters (the bowl is fixed into the filter head using a massive sleeve nut)
These types of filters operate on the principle of a filter insert placed in the filter bowl, which is connected into the incoming water flow and captures mechanical impurities larger than the porosity (expressed in units of µm) of the used filter insert. Unless stated otherwise, the most common filters are intended
for "cold water", i.e. for water temperatures in the range of +5 °C to max. +40 °C.
